Failure to Obey

I am not even sure when the last time I actually took the time to write anything here. So, it has obviously been too long. If you have been a prior reader welcome back and if this is your first time. Thank you for taking the time to check this out. I hope it helps someone.

I want to share a verse that has kept coming to my mind this week. It is found in James 1:23-24 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in the mirror and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like.

Let me give you a little background. Many years ago I heard God tell me to start a blog to help others learn about how he has changed my life. How he has helped and continues to help me grow closer to the him. I did well for a while, even making Facebook live posts to reach others. Life has a way of getting us super busy does it not ? My Mom has consumed a lot of my time. I cared for her while working full time and trying to live life. This project got pushed on the back burner for a few years now. Mom is now in a nursing center and I spend a couple of days a week going to see her after work. I spend time with my love one, attend church, a neighborhood Bible study, spend time with the grands, maintain a house and serve on a few boards and wait I still work full time. I have had people encourage me because yes, I know I can not do it all. But God………..

Now to tell you about the last few weeks. I will say that I still do my best to obey God in my daily walk, I still stumble some. About three weeks ago the bill for WordPress came in via email. My first thought was maybe God has decided I am not the one to use for this. I mean I have not really reached that many people. Why should I waste my money on the subscription if I am no going to use it ?

Hmmm want to know what happened on this past Sunday? Well I am going to tell you. Of course I am. Our Associate Pastor who is also our Youth Pastor and happens to be a very talented gaming Pastor reaching thousands spoke to us about how we should be doing what God has asked us to do. It does not matter if we reach one, a thousand or millions. You see he followed the instructions God gave him and he led others to reach out to gamers as well. The result is he obeyed God and influenced others who happen to have a million or so followers. So, while I drive I usually listen to a sermon or podcast as I am driving and Monday and Tuesday both days it seemed that every subject was on the subject of doing what God told us to do . To be obedient to our Lord and Savior. Me being me I was still praying about paying the bill and getting back to business and then Wednesday came……… I know the suspense is killing you right?

I am not going to name names here but a lovely couple I go to church with, well the wife stops me on Wednesday before church and said she needed to speak with me. I quickly put on my deaconess hat thinking I would have to be wise and use discernment in my conversation. Go ahead and laugh God I am sure has a good chuckle over my thought processes. It was not anything like that. So she gives me a letter and explains that at some point after retirement her husband distinctly heard God tell him to make beautiful crosses out of scrap metal and to pray over it and wait for the voice of God to bless someone with it. The wife felt like they were suppose to give this beautiful work of art to someone else and I think he did as well. He told her that day to give it to me that he knows with out a doubt God wanted me to have it at this time. The work of art is a beautiful cross key chain. It will not be used in my daily life, I am going to add it and the letter to my prayer board along with a tie I received when one of my mentors passed away.

I have been failing to obey God in this area. I have made excuses and procrastinated and wondered if I had not really heard from God. Now we know not only did I hear from him he is still reaching out to me urging me lovingly to continue the mission.

So that is it, I will do my best to share my thoughts with all of you , perhaps it will be an encouragement perhaps I will bore you to death. This is the end of my failure to obey as I will pray daily for God to give me the message he wants me to share.

I want to encourage you to check out pastordoostyn. You can find him on twitch, youtube.com/2pastordoostyn or pillar.io/pastordoostyn. I think you will find him to be a great guy with a servant’s heart.

I leave you with this prayer Heavenly Father please touch the heart and minds of all who read this, to do your will. Lead them to the knowledge that you sent your only Son to die for the sins of all. Let them feel your love and guidance in their lives. In Jesus Name Amen.
